Terms of Service
Welcome to CoveKit! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the CoveKit video/audio developer platform, API services, client SDKs, and media plane infrastructure (collectively, the "Service").
Please read these Terms carefully before integrating our Service. By creating an account, generating API credentials, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Description of Service
CoveKit is a cloud-based media plane infrastructure provider that enables developers to orchestrate audio and video meeting rooms, issue secure authorization tokens, receive webhook events, and embed real-time communication tools in web and mobile applications.
2. Accounts, Organization, and API Credentials
- Account Registration: You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration. You are solely responsible for protecting your account credentials and managing developer permissions.
- Projects & Credentials: You may generate project tokens and API keys ("Credentials") to access the Service. You are fully responsible for all API requests, bandwidth consumption, and participant sessions initiated under your Credentials.
3. Subscription Plans, Fees, and Service Limits
- Subscription Tiers: CoveKit offers various subscription tiers, which are detailed on our official website and pricing page ("Pricing Page"). By selecting a tier, you agree to the recurring fees, included usage allocations, and participant capacity limits corresponding to that tier.
- Plan Limits: You agree to adhere to the technical and participant limits associated with your selected tier. Exceeding these limits may result in connection restrictions or access limits for additional users.
- Changes to Plans: We reserve the right to modify pricing, features, and limits of our plans at any time. Any changes will be posted on our website or communicated to you.
4. Billing, Usage Calculation, and the Credit Wallet
CoveKit operates on a hybrid Subscription Base + Credit Wallet model:
- Recurring Subscriptions: Base subscription fees are billed monthly on your billing date and secure your included base usage allocation.
- Zero Rollover Policy: Unused included usage allocations expire at the end of each billing cycle and do not roll over to subsequent months.
- Overage Consumption: Any usage beyond your base allocation is charged as an overage at the rate designated for your tier. Overages are automatically deducted from your account's Credit Wallet.
- Credit Wallet Top-Ups: Pre-funded Credit Wallet balances do not expire and carry over indefinitely until consumed.
5. Account Balances and Service Suspension
To prevent unexpected service interruptions during usage spikes:
- Negative Balances: We may permit a temporary negative wallet balance up to a designated grace threshold. During this grace period, your active services will remain functional.
- Suspension of Service: If your account balance drops below the designated grace threshold, or if you fail to settle recurring subscription fees, we reserve the right to suspend API access, restrict new room orchestration, or terminate active sessions until your account balance is restored to a positive state.
6. Acceptable Use Policy
You agree not to use CoveKit's media plane infrastructure to:
- Stream or distribute content that is illegal, defamatory, harmful, or violates intellectual property rights.
- Reverse-engineer, intercept, or tamper with media plane network routing protocols.
- Engage in automated spamming, session-joining scripts, or service degradation attacks.
- Expose CoveKit APIs or SDKs directly to unauthorized third parties without appropriate end-user authorization controls.
7. Telemetry, Webhooks, and Service Quality
- Telemetry & Logs: CoveKit records connection metadata, room uptime, bandwidth ingestion, and webhook dispatch attempts for usage billing and performance analysis.
- Service Availability (SLA): CoveKit strives for continuous media plane uptime. However, services are provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee uninterrupted connectivity or zero packet loss.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CoveKit shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages (including loss of revenue, data, or system access) arising from your integration or inability to connect to our media plane infrastructure.
